Former Indian cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu has landed in hot waters in his home country, after his visit to Pakistan for the oath-taking ceremony of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Imran had especially invited his Indian counterpart Sidhu alongside two other Indian cricketers, out of which only the 54-year-old could make it to the auspicious occasion.
However, Sidhu’s visit has attracted backlash from a chunk of extremists given the fragile political relations between India and Pakistan. During these difficult times for Sidhu, right-arm pacer Waqar Younis has lauded his resolve for peace.
Waqar commended Sidhu for his kind words for the hospitality shown by the Pakistani people, and praised his determination to maintain peace with the neighbouring country. Waqar expressed optimism at the prospect of long-lasting harmony between the two nations.
